Photos from a faraway land

In January 2005 I visited Chilean Patagonia, and I took some pictures from there. Here they are. Click on any picture for a larger version. The first three pictures after the map are from Concepcion, about 2000 km north of Punta Arenas (Patagonia).

Land for beasts. Some humans too.

Guanacos. Puma food.

Nandu, kind of ostrich.

Torres del Paine

Yes, the hotel was nice.

Camera on a rock. I waited for the rare moment when the wind would not blow it away.

It was very early.

Pouring out of his mouth.

You can never be thirsty there. Claire comme l'eau de roche.

These are the only animals that really hate humans, said Bruce Chatwin. Actually, they hate horses, pumas, and condors too.

A path by a small lake

A lake pouring into another one.

They swim, too.

Hielo Patagonico Sur. Hundreds of meters deep. The greatest glacier, after the ones of Antarctica and Greenland.

A hermit. Being in the woods for decades. Eats potatoes, pumas and the like. He's 67 and lives with a cat. Note the difference in clothing.
